A home in the mountains.....

My new wife, Sue, has always wanted to live surrounded by evergreen trees in the mountains. We have talked  about buying a place in the mountains later when we retire, but have realized NOW is the time. The prices of property are way, way low and so are the interest rates. Sooooo, we have spent the last 2 weekends looking at places to buy now!

The last one is an older home in good shape right on a river! It has a 3 car garage one of which will fit an RV, a small outbuilding good for crafting, gun room or guest room. We are bidding on it right now. The second to last is another one we are interested in if the other fails.

House hunting in the mountains is a lot of fun! And we have a real estate broker who is pretty much as crazy as we are! Wish us luck!

First of all, Chris and Sue, I wish you the BEST of luck in getting your mountain home... Will it be a vacation home for now, or will the goats be a thing of the past, as you move to the mountain home... and what mountains?

Thanks, Judy. It is in the Boise National Forest North of Boise, Idaho and part of the Rocky Mountains. Central to Northern Idaho is a beautiful wilderness range. Actually we are planning on it being our primary home right off, with Sue commuting during the week for her teaching job. The goats? That is still to be decided.....(no way are they going with us! shhhh!)

So, do you folks live int Idaho right now? I was,for some odd reason, thinking you lived elsewhere. Good luck on the house. It looks like a lovely area.........................if you like snow (which I do NOT!) LOLb

Born and raised in southwestern Idaho. Left for about 20 years, spent 8 years in/around Juneau, AK and 12 more in central western Oregon. It's nice to be home, Idaho is really a great state to live in (if your on the conservative side!). ((that will get K8 going!))

I'm waiting on pins and needles to hear if you have purchased a house or not! Our house deal fell through...so we are on the hunt again. We are now moved to the Big Island though and that makes it easier to go looking.
Good luck on your house hunt!
